LinkedIn jobs clamour highlights global prominence

June 27, 2011

LinkedIn's growing popularity and status as an integral business medium across the globe has been highlighted by recent figures showing just how many people now want to work for them.

The business-orientated social networking site received 85,000 job applications last year - and that number is on top of the group of remarkable candidates that LinkedIn recruiters actively sought themselves.

The company's global director of talent acquisition, Brendan Browne, said that the demand to work for the company was at a level that no one on his team could have ever foreseen, but there were ways for candidates to improve their chances of getting a foot in the door.

He said that the company had been defined by "transformation" - "transformation of the world, the company, oneself and you as a professional," he explained. Therefore, people would be able to demonstrate that they could come up with the most creative and constructive ideas would stand out from the crowd.

He added that they were also recruiting in offices across the globe - with outposts across the US, as well as in Europe, South Asia, the Far East and Australia - so people with the relevant linguistic skills would also find themselves at an advantage.

LinkedIn now has 1,200 employees to cope with the demands of 100 million users worldwide, spanning 200 countries and is available in six different languages.
