The registration of LinkedIn's 10 millionth user in India has served to highlight the global span of the business-based social networking site.

The company has more than 100 million users worldwide, with 33.4 million of those located in the US. The growth of its Indian footprint, however, has been hailed by the company's bosses as a glowing endorsement of the crucial service they provide.

“We have focused our efforts on creating a great user experience for our members," explained Hari V. Krishnan, the country manager of LinkedIn India. "As our members here continue to use LinkedIn, we are committed to being the exchange which connects talent to opportunity in India."

The Indian arm of the company was first started in 2009, after the emerging economy's booming trade presence made it a critical market for the global giant’s perceived value for investors. The company has a leadership team to drive the company’s Marketing Solutions and Corporate Solutions businesses and is headquartered in Mumbai, with offices in Gurgaon and Bengaluru.

Upon making the announcement, LinkedIn bosses also revealed a little more information about their Indian demographic. Apparently there are 762 people who list 'yoga' somewhere in their job title, while the top ten surnames are Kumar, Singh, Sharma, Gupta, Jain, Shah, Patel, Mishra, Reddy and Yadav
