Being a LinkedIn trainer, consultant, course leader and networker I often have the privilege of meeting business owners and aspiring professionals from all sorts of backgrounds, industries, and walks of life. That’s why I’m delighted to be playing a small part in Calderdale’s new Digital Shift programme.
The new and rather exciting resources initiative is designed to give up and coming and potential businesses in the area a boost by providing free, hands-on support and useful, and frankly, unmissable opportunities to access grant funding, benefit from workshops and enjoy expert mentoring.
We have the partnership between Calderdale Council, Leeds Beckett University and AD:VENTURE (the ERDF funded programme that delivers support for start-ups and new organisations located across the Leeds City Organisation) to thank for this promising Digital Shift Programme.
As the name suggests, the positive new scheme, accessed via the Halifax University Business Centre at Piece Mill, will focus on the creative and digital sectors. The programme intends to create jobs and profitability in the region. The end goal is to enhance Calderdale’s reputation as an area that engages and retains local young talent and advocates increasing collaboration between local businesses, whilst improving digital and innovative ideas and skills.
The scheme will provide access to information to identify growth opportunities and set action plans, access to grants of up to £25,000, one-to-one mentoring and specialist events, including a monthly digital breakfast at the University Business Centre (HINT…this is where I come in – see below).
Eligible businesses will have the chance to master cutting-edge skills in sales, marketing, internet search engine optimisation, exporting, product development, innovation and gain knowledge and confidence about identifying a minimum viable product, branding, networking and business planning.
The Digital Shift Programme targets businesses who are less than 3-years-old and have demonstrated a proven desire to grow. If you’re a digital start-up located in Calderdale or looking to set up a business, this scheme will be perfect for you!

I’m thrilled to be leading one of the Digital Breakfast events:
